Immediately after
a work injury/illness requiring medical treatment, the supervisor must
call CompEndium Services at 877-709-2667 to report the injury. Do not
call for minor injuries that does not require medical treatment. Keep
record of minor injuries in the department.
The supervisor
will give his/her name and employer’s name and a Medical Manager
Nurse will take the call and ask the name of the injured employee and
specific questions about the accident.
The department
no long has to complete the Employer's First Report of Injury form.
CompEndium will
assist the supervisor and injured employee in selecting a physician
and scheduling an appointment or will direct the injured employee to
an Emergency Room (ER). Clemson University campus employees will be
directed to Redfern Health Center. CompEndium will direct off-campus
employees to an approved medical facility.
The treating physician
will call CompEndium before the injured employee leaves the facility
to receive authorization for additional treatment and/or referrals.
Immediately following, the Medical Manager Nurse will call the supervisor
with a report on the status of the employee's condition and work status.
The physician
will fax report/case notes to CompEndium within 24 hours after employee
is treated.
THERE IS NO COVERAGE
FOR CLAIMS UNLESS REPORTED BY THE SUPERVISOR BEFORE MEDICAL TREATMENT
IS RECEIVED.
In the event of
an Emergency call 911
and then immediately call CompEndium.
